Retailer Best Buy is now offering pre-orders for the HTC Evo 4G, which will be the first handset to support the next generation 4G data network. As with many of its recent launches, the store will apply the $100 rebate instantly without requiring customers to send it in by mail as they do at Sprint.

The Evo 4G is due to ship on June 4th, and will cost $200 on a contract after the $100 instant rebate.

The Evo 4G sports a 4.3-inch display with a 800×480 resolution, a 1GHz Snapdragon, Sense UI atop Android 2.1, and can play back 720p content downscaled to its screen resolution or to a TV through an HDMI output. It gets both a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video conferencing and a main 8.0-megapixel shooter that can capture stills or 720p video. 4G comes into play for video chat, video streaming apps like Qik, and for uploading HD video directly to YouTube.
