Sprint quietly releases Android 2.1 for Samsung Moment

Posted on May 14, 2010

Sprint appears to have quietly released the Android 2.1 update for Samsung’s Moment smartphone, according to several posts on Sprint’s community site. Although the carrier still lists build CL14 on the corresponding support page, the download link actually directs to an updater for Android 2.1 build DE03.

Users must run the updater from a Windows-based PC after backing up any critical information, as the update process erases all user data on the device. Users are reminded to remove the MicroSD card before initiating the process.

The manual update is now available directly from Sprint’s support site. It is unclear if the company will distribute an automatic over-the-air update, as the Android 2.1 release has yet to be officially announced.
