LG Ally delayed a week without explanation

Posted on May 22, 2010

Verizon on Friday told early customers of the LG Ally that the ship date was being pushed back exactly one week to May 27. Both a spokesperson and e-mails said the Android slider was being moved back the same day it was to have shipped. Neither source has explained the reason for the delay, though short setbacks such as these are usually owing to supply or minor software fixes.

The Ally still has its $100 contract price and will be only Verizon’s second Android 2.1 device after the Droid Incredible. Apart from its keyboard, the phone stands out in its use of 802.11n Wi-Fi and a lightly customized interface. A 3.2-megapixel camera, a slightly slower processor and a smaller LCD help cut costs versus the 8-megapixel camera, 1GHz Snapdragon and AMOLED of HTC’s Verizon flagship.
